Microsoft launches new data center design aimed at achieving zero water cooling

Golden Finance reported that Microsoft announced the launch of a new data center design, zero water cooling technology can optimize AI workloads and achieve zero cooling water consumption. By adopting chip-level cooling solutions, precise temperature control can be achieved without water evaporation, aiming to protect local watersheds and address water resource pressures. Microsoft stated that its current fleet will continue to use a mix of air and water cooling systems, but the new projects in Phoenix, Arizona and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin will trial zero water evaporative designs in 2026.
