U.S. media: Zuckerberg plans to restructure Meta's artificial intelligence business again.
On August 20, Jin10 data reported that over the past few months, Meta Platforms (META.O) CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been reorganizing the company's artificial intelligence business. He now plans to take further actions that could exacerbate internal turmoil within the tech division. According to two insiders, on Tuesday, Meta is expected to announce the division of its artificial intelligence department—Meta Super Intelligence Lab—into four groups. One will focus on AI research; one will focus on a potentially powerful AI called "super intelligence"; another will be responsible for products; and the last will handle infrastructure, such as data centers and other AI hardware. Insiders stated that these initiatives aim to better organize Meta to develop AI products more rapidly and compete with other companies. They also indicated that some AI executives are expected to leave. Meta is also considering an overall reduction in the size of its AI department, which could include layoffs or transferring employees to other departments within the company, as the department has grown to thousands in recent years. However, discussions are still ongoing, and no final decisions have been made.
