"Typical Trump": Israelis in Haifa are unimpressed by the American President's vicious criticism
Gate News bot message, according to CNN, on Tuesday afternoon, Israeli people took to the streets of Haifa to welcome the temporary end of the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, and expressed gratitude for the role played by US President Donald Trump in the current ceasefire protocol.
The Reuters interview in the northern city took place a few hours after Trump fiercely attacked Israel with dirty words, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government and Iran of violating the ceasefire protocol he announced.
"Yes, this is typical Trump," said Esther, a 70-year-old resident of Haifa, to Reuters. "It's like parents scolding their children. He is scolding us. But I don't think it's anything particularly serious."
Since the first Israeli airstrike on June 13th, Haifa has been a target for Iranian missiles, including the attack on Saturday that left dozens injured.
27-year-old chef Daniel Kopylkov told Reuters, "To be honest, I don't really care about Trump's comments on Israel. In the end, I think he is the one who truly helped end this war, which is important to me."
The United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday, and the White House said the attack "destroyed" Iran's nuclear program. However, U.S. intelligence officials told CNN that based on preliminary assessments, the attack may only delay Iran's nuclear ambitions for a few months.
Iran warned in advance of the attack on the US base in Qatar on Monday, prompting President Trump to announce a ceasefire.
Israel and Iran fired missiles at each other on Tuesday, accusing each other of violating the ceasefire, but then both sides re-committed to abide by the ceasefire.
42-year-old historian Mark Walowich told Reuters in Haifa that US involvement in the conflict highlighted Israel's reliance on its main ally.
This indicates that despite Israel's claim to control its own destiny and future, it still relies entirely on the support of the United States in terms of political and financial backing, not to mention ammunition.
